Family Tractor Time

Family Tractor Time

The logs are here! The logs are here!

Yep, it happened! Right on schedule! 5 tractor trailer loads! And Terry was there to direct things (well, take pictures). While I labored away at work. But I went back with him after work to see the damage, uh, building materials. The pictures tell the story!

Not thrilled about all the beautiful grass turning to mud, but I guess they gotta put the house somewhere ;-)

This is our basement, which is a 1/3 basement--a muddy one at that.

Yes, things are definitely happening on the Tritt farm! I thought this day would never come :-)

Now don't I look silly? Actually, this is all quite overwhelming to me...and a little scary as well. I really hope our builder knows what he is doing, LOL.

Log Delivery Date 3 Days Away!

Our log delivery date is Wednesday, May 27, 2015!!!  Terry will be there "supervising" and taking pictures. I will be at work! By then the driveway should have the gravel for the construction trucks, etc. I don't know how they are going to do everything in the next 2 days. Below is a close-up view of our driveway. To the right you can see the gate Terry made in order to have a driving area between all the trees that separate our 2 pastures. No need for the gate now, LOL--trees to the left are GONE--they were all small trees and bushes! All the hundreds of times I jumped out the truck, unlocked the chain, opened the gate and propped it, then reverse on the way out...that's history now. It only kept the honest out anyway! Terry and Ben worked hard putting that gate in. Now they gotta pull it out, concrete and all...somehow...

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but it does bother me to see all the beautiful grass turned to mud. I guess sometimes we must go a little backwards before we can move forwards :-)

Future Home Underway!

This is 2 summers ago right after Terry bought his tractor and got started. On the following page you will see the SAME view last summer -- after hundreds of hours of hard work! I am so proud of him! Also thankful to the folks who  offered a helping hand at times--Ben, Jian, Charlie, Dusty, Dusty's cousin, and
the guy wehired with the Bobcat! Oh yeah -- and myself!

No comment necessary! :-)

All the hard work paid off! We have since burned the brush pile you see, as well as eleven other brush piles, cleared, planted grass, etc.

This is my fave pic of sunset from our farm. Terry actually took it from the front part of our acreage, which is on the other side of the treeline you see in pics above and below. There are about 2 acres in front of the gate, which will be used as one of the grazing pastures for our cattle and goats.

This is the beautiful view from our future breakfast room! Someday we will be enjoying this  view over dinner!
