Can't Stay Away!

OK, it's only been 2-3 days since last post, but I just can't stay away! We drove back out last night and met daughter Karen, her hubby, and Adalynn there. Terry and Tre were going to do a little shooting, but they just never got around to it (truly, men are just as "bad" about jabbing their jaws as women are)! It is so exciting to walk around our future home and see that everything (floor plan, etc.) is coming together, just as we envisioned and discussed/sketched together sitting in our den the past few years. So far, I couldn't be more pleased! Everything I read on log home building informs that it is best to choose a tried-and-true stock plan when designing your home, then go from there. I tried. I really tried! I looked at hundreds, maybe even thousands, of floor plans the past several years, both log and conventional home floor plans, thinking that "the one" would sooner or later jump out at me. It just never happened. Most had too much on the second story and not enough on the main floor. Most had the back view that could not easily be reversed. And not the right rooms in all the wrong places!! I do believe that going with a stock plan is the best option all-round for a number of reasons I won't go into right now. But I have no regrets! We are getting just what we want---all the right rooms in all the right places! And I totally trust our phenomenal builder, (even though I have heard that one should never totally trust a builder--Brian Ramey is different). So yes, we still have a long way to go. And I know the "unexpected" may always be around the corner. But right now, I am pumped, so I am going to enjoy being pumped! I am ready to bring a picnic lunch out and have our first meal in our new home! Hmmm...maybe a post on that soon! So only one pic for this post, one that Karen took. Love!

Terry, Tre, and I are looking out his study window, standing right where his desk will be. We have his beautiful desk in storage and can't wait to put it where it belongs! It's too big for our current home!
